I. School of Excellence
The Center for Charter Schools at Central Michigan University released a list of K-8 charter schools that are high performing and beating the odds. Academy of Southfield is one of only 52 charter schools across the state of Michigan that has achieved over 60% academic proficiency with a population made up of more than 50% free or reduced lunch students. Academy of Southfield is approaching the “School of Excellence” designation which requires at least a 70% 3 year average proficiency rate for reading and math. Academy of Southfield’s extraordinary achievements reinforce the belief that every child can learn if given the right support, environment and tools.

II. Adequate Yearly Progress
The Academy of Southfield has achieved Adequate Yearly Progress for the seventh consecutive year (2009/2010).

III. Education Yes
The Michigan Department of Education has given the Academy of Southfield a grade of “B” for the 2009-2010 school year.
